Orthodontic Treatment Timing

Dr. Nisson provides orthodontic treatment for adults, adolescents and children. We follow the guidelines established by the American Association of Orthodontists by recommending that an orthodontic evaluation take place at age 7 for all children. This early evaluation can help to determine the best time to begin any necessary treatment. While many problems are best left until the twelve-year molars have fully erupted, there are many situations which are definitely benefited by beginning treatment when patients have a mix of permanent teeth and adult teeth (ages 7-11).
