Dr. Nisson provides orthodontic treatment for adults, adolescents and children. We follow the guidelines established by the American Association of Orthodontists by recommending that an orthodontic evaluation take place at age 7 for all children. This early evaluation can help to determine the best time to begin treatment. While many problems are best left until the twelve-year molars have fully erupted, there are many situations which are definitely benefited by beginning treatment when patients have a mix of permanent teeth and adult teeth (ages 7-11).  This often involves situations where a change can be made to the skeleton.  The skeleton can't be changed on grown individuals, which may limit the overall effectiveness of orthodontic treatment.
